We can't stress enough on how useful babywearing is to making a family lifestyle work! It is our favorite tool to introduce to families welcoming new little ones, as the concept of babywearing is everything you can offer a baby and yourselves in our modern day family lifestyle. Of course, there's correct ways to use it for obvious safety reasons but babywearing coincides with healthy bonding and relationship with the baby as well as other health and lifestyle benefits. In many cultures around the world, babies have been carried around attached to their mothers and caregivers all day long for centuries. The way the babies are carried recreates a womb-like environment for the baby, providing security, comfort, and continuous touch and presence of their loved one. It allows mothers and others to have free hands, enabling them to do things while closely caring for the baby full of love. Many people find that it is also a great way to put babies to sleep. Sometimes it can only take a few seconds for the little one to start snoozing after a fuss. Keeping mama & baby close helps keep their hormones shared too, helping regulate routine occurrences, such as feedings and sleepy time. Many carriers are breastfeeding position friendly, too.
There is a sling or carrier perfect for every occasion and growing phase, from best for newborns to doing chores inside the house, shopping, going on walks, and even to hike with! As seasoned parents and people who have witnessed so many families benefit from learning how to wear their babies, we have witnessed it make each family's lifestyle better for many reasons.

Baby aWearness favorite pick for the Newborn/Infancy phase, a well-made stretchy wrap like our top choice, the Boba Wrap. Comes in a great variation of solid colors and cute prints, it's essentially a loooong piece of cloth that you wrap around yourself and snuggle baby into. The baby is attached to your body, as if you're pregnant again (or experience what having a pregnant belly may feel like!), recreating the womb-like environment that the new baby remembers as their most immediate memory of security and safety.
The baby's ear is able to nestle against the "sweet spot" on the carrying caregiver's chest, listening to the familiar settling sounds of the heartbeat.
There are several ways to use wrap type carriers. Here's our go-to tying method, great for stretchy wraps.
Step 1: First, you find the tag in the middle and put the cloth across your belly. The material can get scrunched, as long as it's not twisted.
Step 2: Then, you cross in the back and put each side to come over your shoulders.
Step 3: Cross in the front and tuck in through the middle belt part you created in step 1.
Step 4: This step is very important to make stretchy wraps work correctly. Start from the middle in the front and trace through the wrap ensuring it is on nice and snug. If you trace it through about 2 times, you can make sure there are no parts of it slacking. Do not pull it too tight to activate the elasticity of the fabric -that is what cups over the baby to hold baby in the carrier and on you.
Step 5: Wrap the rest of the material however many times you need to around your waist nice and snug. Double knot in the end and the wrap is now securely on you!
Step 6: Putting the baby in! The baby will go in on the side that's closer to your skin, first.
Correct use of baby carriers aren't only known for the convenience of physically being able to wear the baby. There's something called "Kangaroo Care," with many benefits for full term and premature babies.
Benefits of Kangaroo Care
Find out what neonatal and pediatric experts like from the Cleveland Clinic say about Kangaroo Care!
"What is kangaroo care?
Kangaroo care is a method of holding a baby that involves skin-to-skin contact. The baby, who is naked except for a diaper and a piece of cloth covering his or her back (either a receiving blanket or the parent's clothing), is placed in an upright position against a parent's bare chest. This snuggling of the infant inside the pouch of their parent's shirt, much like a kangaroo's pouch, led to the creation of the term "kangaroo care."
